Metalfest is very very pleased to announce that :
ELVENKING
have agreed to perform at the first Metalfest!!!
THE STORY SO FAR...
With “The Scythe” Italian Fantasy Metallers ELVENKING open a very interesting new chapter in their history, following a darker approach and delivering a perfect mixture between SKYCLAD, BLIND GUARDIAN and IN FLAMES. Their previous recipe for success continues but with some modern elements, and though you'll find them a little heavier and a lot darker than before, you'll still be able to see the mystical heart and the superb melody that gave birth to the original mixture of folk and power. Some people might allure to and enjoy elements of the IN FLAMES masterpiece "Clayman", others to even more straight and catchy forward rocking monsters like "The Divided Heart" which lacks little power yet still remains in the mind long after the last chord..., but, let's not forget! These are Italians and with impressive and more well-thought ideas than ever before, this band is continuing a legacy that knows no boundaries, limitations or trends. Poetic, powerful, and centred on "Death" as the main character, combined with a real eye catching cover artwork the band from Treviso, Italy, makes their ambitions very clear..... Mature and down to earth.... "The Scythe" reigns supreme.
Since 1997, ELVENKING have been an active part of the European scene and have steadily built a rapidly growing and cult fan-base which has seen them perform with ex Skyclad / Sabbat singer Martin Walkyier in the UK at Bloodstock Festival (in 2002) and around Europe in both their home country and Budapest where a strong set at the Sziget gathering one year had people talking for months. The band debuted on record in 2001 with the excellent "Heathenreel", but this was only the beginning. Spreading mystic tales of fantasy and imagination to a wider audience, this album was awarded Album of the month” in many magazines and proved that their mixture of Epic Power Metal and frisky Folk was capable of instantly grabbing attention and meant more than much of what had come before. "Wyrd", the band's second album was released in 2004, followed by another showcase of their musical individuality, "The Winter Wake", unleashed in 2006.
With contributions by Mike Wead (King Diamond, Candlemass, etc.) and a great mix by Nino Laurenne (Sonic Pump Studios, Finland ), now ELVENKINGs newest effort “The Scythe” is sure to satisfy lovers of real, individual Melodic Metal internationally.
